Everything You Need to Know about Speedometer Calibration for Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz is one of the vehicle manufacturers with the highest requirements for security and data integrity in vehicle electronics. The Assyst system (automatic service interval system) and the integration of the mileage into multiple control units make speedometer calibration at Mercedes a demanding task that requires true expertise.

Particularly for newer Mercedes models from W203/W211 onwards, the complete synchronization of all memory locations is absolutely necessary: instrument cluster, ignition switch/EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch), Assyst (service display), engine control unit, and gateway must all be consistent.

For some models, we offer speedometer calibration including ignition switch and Assyst reset – a service that many other providers do not perform completely.

Common reasons for a Mercedes speedometer calibration:

  • Broken or replaced instrument cluster (e.g. after accident or defect).
  • Import from Great Britain: Converting miles to kilometers.
  • Vehicle electronics repair: ECU or cluster replacement.
  • Restoration of a classic or modern classic car.

Note on Assyst Service Logs

Mercedes vehicles store the exact mileage at which the last services were performed inside the Assyst module. If the dashboard is adjusted but the service logs are left with older, contradictory mileage entries, any Mercedes workshop tester will instantly flag a manipulation. At Tacho Frankfurt, we update the Assyst logs to ensure complete integrity.

EZS / EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) Calibration for Mercedes

In Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the Electronic Ignition Switch (EZS/EIS) acts as the master gateway. It securely locks the vehicle keys and duplicates the odometer reading. If a dashboard is replaced or adjusted without modifying the EZS, the EZS will automatically overwrite the dashboard value back to the higher reading as soon as the key is turned.

Tacho Frankfurt utilizes advanced EEPROM and microprocessor programmer clips to recalibrate the EZS safely. This provides you with a clean, fully integrated odometer adjustment that leaves no trace in the OBD history logs.
